Student Activities constitutes one of the largest departments at George Fox University and is responsible for planning weekly large-budget events for the entire student body. During my time as one of the two graphic designers, my main role was to create posters for more than 20 events throughout the year. I worked under the direction of the marketing lead and played an important role in the teams that advertised and planned events. In most cases, I would be given the event information, description, and general feeling, then would be responsible to create a design that could convey that information well.

The Student Activities brand for George Fox University is historically very illustration-heavy to encourage a vibrant, approachable, and fun sense to the events being advertised. This challenged me to refine my illustration abilities while balancing consistent style with a unique personality for each event. One of the skills I especially enjoyed refining at this time was typography, specifically decorative typeface design, which combined well with the unique event concepts to create a wide variety of visually compelling posters.
